Self leadership 25th October
It was once again an insightful session with Anil sir. There is so much to learn in these sessions. We discussed on the most important part in life that is decision making. It is not about left brain or right brain but whole brain. As a child we are extremely creative but we lose creativity as we grow old. Sir spoke about the six steps that will help us in decision making. Having a clear vision is the first step, meaningful and reliable information, defined several doable and creative options, defining risk and return, tradeoffs preparing for implementation. These are steps which will help us decision making. We also discussed examples of Taj group and how they would come to a decision. To me this has been very important because I always wanted to understand how big companies take decisions.
Then we did the creativity exercise. The idea was to be as creative as possible and then look for best possible solutions. Sir discussed about failures that will stop us from growing. Fear of failure, fear of criticism, fear of ambiguity, lack of time, lack of self image. These are fears which one needs to overcome. Freedom is not doing what you feel like doing is what sir told. This line has a very deep meaning in our life context I believe.
We also had a lot of fun and did creative exercises in groups. After doing these exercises sir told us to introspect how we felt. We also focused on our mission in life. I feel it is important to realize my mission. It will give me a sense of direction. Mission takes you away from everything that is negative. You find a purpose in life once you have a mission.
It is important to understand what matters to us the most. It is quite understandable to have your family first and it is right but I feel we need to go beyond this. Each one must do something for the society as a whole.
