EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE :
A Journey of self discovery

Every class of self - leadership, I discover myself. Every step I take towards my inner self, the fog makes way to a better image of mine every time. This time we learnt about emotional Intelligence, did you know that emotional intelligence is something we have since our childhood. When we were young and tender, we absorb certain emotions like kindness, anger, laughter and so on from the people we see and meet, unknowingly. As we grow our emotions grow with us. As we become wise, they become wiser too. Emotional intelligence is an art of identifying, assessing and controlling the emotions of ourselves, others or a group of people.
Before we analyse others, let’s master our own emotions. Let’s discover, what makes me the person I am. You can master yourself by:
·         Honour your uniqueness
·         Find a cause that gives you joy and satisfaction
·         Leverage your gifts and uniqueness to work on that cause
·         Share joy and accomplishment with one and all
·         Enable others to do the above four in their lives
Be a giver, and do it with joy and selflessness you will be surprised by what you get. In my view, the thought or the greed to see what you receive from what you give should not exist. When you think you will get something out of an act, you are greedy already. So give thoughtlessly as well.

In the exercise of ego battle, we were divided into group of 4 and asked to discuss a topic. From the exercise, I understood that; when we deeply listen to a person, interpret and revert our understanding, a sense of satisfaction arises in our hearts. As a leader, when we practice this method of deep listening, we will be able to understand the pulse of co-workers and get the best out of them. Hence, practicing effective and efficient leadership becomes much easier.

Our values and believes are deep inside our heart. When you practice emotional intelligence, we can see the values of a person even without he mentioning them. When we review about the people who have inspired us and impacted our lives, we observe a few behavior trends. These important people are very positive in life; they face life very strongly and with stand all failures boldly. They are role models who are down to earth, immensely selfless, consistent and self-made people. They give us strength to keep going and they give us values to live a respectful life.

In this journey of knowing emotional intelligence, I have discovered what makes the person I am. A very thankful session, Anil sir has truly opened our minds and made us wiser students. Truly grateful to Anil sir and SOIL for such a wonderful learning experience looking forward for more such sessions J

Cheers
Su
