Emotional Intelligence
Like every other session with Anil Sir, the
session on Emotional Intelligence was also an eye opener. I understand Self
Leadership as the perceptual intelligence of both, the body and the mind. Having
gained a little understanding on leadership of body, this session on Emotional
Intelligence took us a step further on understanding of our being. Emotional
Intelligence helps us develop self awareness and Intrapersonal skills. Self
awareness is achieved beyond thoughts. It comes from a deep energy burning
inside you which is waiting to be explored and harnessed. Emotional
Intelligence is also about Intrapersonal relationships, about listening and
understanding others, about not being judgmental and respecting the emotions of
others. While undergoing various exercises through the session, I realized that
EI imparts knowledge to the body that gets you efficiency and proficiency. It
liberates your mind of all the doubts and anxieties and gets you single
focused, joyful, calm and charismatic. It’s a trait that is not inherited but
acquired through consistent practice which then becomes a virtue. Personally
for me, the exercises in the session were path breaking in terms of learning’s
that they gave and impact that they left on me. The alter ego exercise made me
realize that how often it happens that we misinterpret what the other person
has been trying to say because we listen only to what we want to listen. We go
by our perceptions and form our opinions by being judgmental which is not fair on
the other person.
The session gave us some wonderful insights, but what stood out for me
was the learning that it’s our birth right to be joyful and happy and a
realization of how often we forget to exercise this right. We are all happiness
personified and so very capable of letting go of our disappointments, fears,
inhibitions and anxieties. Life is beautiful and all you have to do to grasp
the essence of life is to honor your gifts, find a cause that gives you joy and
then go all out in the world to achieve your dreams and ambitions.
