Leadership Series
“Those who believe in the abundance of love will never have scarcity in life.” A wonderful thought to begin your day, given by a wonderful person, Nithya Shanti. How Wonderful...And So it is !!
We often talk and hear about Emotional Intelligence and how the term has delved deeper into Organisational cultures worldwide. But have we really pondered upon the fact and extracted the true sense of what EI actually means?
Being aware of who you are and how you impact others comes from a deep source of energy hidden within you. It is the art of understanding others and building trust. It has been a proven fact that people who have a high Emotional Quotient are more trusted than others. So, the question arises, Can EI be acquired in one day or one life time? The answer is that EI can be acquired over a period of time based on upbringing and education. How a child learns to manage his/her emotions determines his/her EI in the long run. However, the good news is that you can master the art when you want to at any point of time in your life. It is a quality which you can nurture by just being in the completely immersed in the moment when you are with somebody or maybe even your own self.
There might be an ego thriving deep inside you which might digress you from your path to master EI but for every ego there is an alter ego which will unveil the true aspects of your nature and through conscious learning help you empathise with others. To be a leader in a true sense, you ought to be a good listener first then be a good orator. Listen, understand and then articulate. This is the ultimate mantra that would be a milestone in journey if becoming a leader.
Your EI serves as the manure to the beautiful garden of thought which blossoms when you sprinkle it with joy, compassion and values. You ought to value your uniqueness and leverage your gifts for the benevolence of others.
When you have learnt the art of being conscious to your inner self pertaining to the changes on the outside, coupled with infinite patience, you have become a Leader born to illuminate the lives of those who have touched his life. It is then a new start and a new beginning to the formation of a community which lives and flourishes beyond the walls of prejudices or judgement.
