“AHAM BRAMHASMI” The journey of the selfish “I“ to the selfless.
We as Indians have seen,
witnessed and heard many a story of true leaders who were not just leaders but
were people in whom the masses had their complete trust and faith. Be it the
story of Raja Harishchandra, who had sacrificed his kingdom and family for his
people and followed path of righteousness or be it Mahatma Gandhi, who had worn
a modest dhoti while on the tour to Britain for the very reason that his countrymen could not afford
decent clothing. These were all leaders who had led the masses by example(s) and
have set a benchmark for the future leaders; a benchmark which had selflessness
as its very basic component.
You may be puzzled by now
that why am I speaking about all these leaders?
Leadership and selflessness
go hand in hand. To begin with, we need to shed the “I” in us which drives our inner-self most of the
times and understand the very fact that the body and the senses (the 5 senses
of touch, smell, taste, hearing and observation) are not us; these are just the
equipments gifted to us by the almighty. Our inner-self needs to take control
of these senses and flush out the big ego “I”.
Let us all join hands
together to take the first step towards the journey from being selfish to the
selfless.
