This episode shows the importance
of Moksha i.e. Liberation the ultimate freedom.
We all are slaves of our senses
but we have to control our senses and not let our senses control us.
This story about the proud businessman
Kotikaran states his transformation from a proud and arrogant businessman to a
monk, getting rid of all the worldly attractions and finally choosing to know
oneself i.e. the true meaning of being “I” which lead him to the right path of liberation.
There is a saying in Urdu that
means that when we donate something we shouldn’t make eye contact with the
needy person because the moment we make eye contact, pride comes in our mind
and the person on the receiving end feels inferior. This changes the entire
meaning of selfless giving and ultimately it becomes the deed done to show that
one is performing goodwill. Kotikaran used to do goodwill just for this sake
only. But ultimately when a monk asked him to give away his pride, this made
him think about his very being, his purpose of life and the path he is
following. Finally he inspired the thief Satyavadi also to leave the path of
wrong deeds and follow him to attain salvation.
In this journey from the world to
another world i.e. the world of “I” we have to choose our path carefully and
selflessly then only we can meet the real ourselves i.e. the core of our being
and perform our duties without ego.
