Suveer_BLP021_Self Leadership

This was our first class of second term and second session on Self Leadership . We were back to the classes after  witnessing a very sad tragedy. We were asked to be in groups and reflect on past week's incident and learning from it. Then we shared the thoughts amongst us. We concluded that life is unpredictable and nothing is permanent here.Similar thoughts were coined by other groups as well.

We were then shown a video -"Before i die,i want to".The video was about sharing some things which we wished to do before death. The same campaign is going to be carried out in the Soil Cafeteria and all the SOIL students will make a list of things to do before i die. This is in itself a kind of inspiring activity as it forces one to rethink about himself and set priorities.
After that, Sir briefly discussed the six layer model of Self awareness which was introduced in the first session of Self leadership.

Emotional Quotient, which plays a very important role in shaping the Leadership traits in a person, was discussed next. He said that experiencing one's self in a conscious manner that is, gaining self-knowledge is an integral part of learning and people with high emotional intelligence are expected to progress more quickly. After emotional intelligence, Sir enlightened us with the importance of appreciative enquiry & why it is needed. Appreciative Inquiry is needed to recognize value, respect and gratitude the positives of others, which actually gives happiness to both. It is a very powerful tool by which one can reach the problem root while appreciating it. It treats problem like a mystery to be embraced.
We then did AI in groups of two and it was really wonderful. I got to know about my partner’s strength without him actually telling me. We had a set of questions that were needed to be asked and the result was amazing. I am looking forward to more of AI when we go to Sidhbari.
After this wonderful session, Anil sir asked us to think about any regrets or guilt that we carry. We were asked to think about what is expected of us by our loved ones. Finally the session came to an end and left us wanting for more.
