As
I write this, the clock reads 3:32 AM and as I battle with sleep I remind myself
that It's the body that needs the sleep and the choice that I make of either
writing this from a task(read homework to be finished) perspective or after having fully introspected should be
in sync with the higher purpose. So I decide to give the 6th Layer of self some
stimulus so that it doesn’t tell the 3rd layer to shut up.
It has been a day full of learnings at SOIL.
The learning about the 6 layers of self has given me a practical tool to leverage the concept of the
body and soul to do something more meaningful with it.
Another powerful
learning that I had is of how to be a good listener, importance of something
that I have probably heard for a gazillion times but what the biggest learning
was that how to listen to the implied meaning and by the power of listening how to make someone else
more enthusiastic about what s/he is trying to share.
Other than
speaking and listening, gestures eye movements and touch as medium to communicate
were fascinating to understand. While in workshops with Madhu last week I could
observe how beautifully she uses the eye moments and gestures to express
herself so much better and create an engaging experience, the session crystallized
it for me.
With all the
pedophilic crimes and many communities talking about making their children
aware of difference between a good touch and a bad touch the importance of touch
as a medium of communication is evident and it was quite an experience to learn about the
power of touch and its impact. It could be used to express yourself without
saying a word or when you are in a situation when the other person is not
receptive to speech. It could be used between people who do not share a
language in common or maybe just to enhance the overall impact even while you
talk.
It was
overall an amazing experience to learn about the basic things we do every day
and how those can be improved upon to be a better communicator and a better
leader, a leader irrespective of the title or role as displayed by Balwant
Singh Ji.
A great day
at SOIL and looking forward to Neetika Ma’am first class tomorrow :)
