Self realization leads to self leadership

As i end my first class today here at SOIL on Self leadership ,the most important question that evolves in my mind as to whether am I true to myself and honest in anything and everything that I do ? More than that of "Self leadership", the idea that keep on coming to my mind throughout the class was that of "Self realization". The idea to understand me and myself better. For if I understand myself and my strengths better, I will be able to understand others and in a way be a good leader and serve the society for a better cause.
World around us is full of good things and in our day to day life we can actually learn a lot by observing, listening and sensing. People react to situations by their instinct. A half filled glass of water while may appear to be a partially filled by one observer, the latter may look into it as half empty. It is how we see and perceive things. While we talk about the 6 layers of awareness of human mind and soul, we see that gradually as a human being tries and gets aligned to all these layers and conquers all of them, he achieves the ultimate goal in his life. He should not just follow his instinct but should be compassionate enough to understand the relationship that he has built with others. He should be ethical and should get rid of his "ego" to attend wisdom. Our mind is full of ideas but to cultivate them we need to understand the basics of life - while we claim ourselves to be diversified, sustainable, ethical and compassionate we should also get rid of ego to have a mindful of idea.
Many a times, I have seen and felt that we hardly listen to people. Our mind gets distracted by a lot of other things happening around us   or maybe even the postures or the gestures of the speaker to whom we listen, rather pretend to listen. Even as pointed out by one of  our class mates today one of the key reason is " we keep on relating our own lives to the story which the speaker is narrating and in a way
listen only half of his story ". To better this art of listening we should actually practice small habits like forming a group of two where one speaks about something and the other draws inferences on whatever he says. So in a way, the second person not only just listens to the former but also tries and portrays what the former is implying to say. Thanks to Anil Sir for helping us in doing such kind of an activity
which helped us to understand what a good listener really is.And as I quote his words what he said today in the class " Ego helps us to speak but our alter ego gives us the essence of what we speak". Needless to say, here the first person acts as the ego and the second the alter ego.
A leader should not only listen but also observe things around him. There is a thin line difference between seeing and observing things. While seeing mainly means looking at things in a general way, observing things is mainly done to draw inferences. Observation is a powerful tool of human being to understand and foresee things around him. A simple example here can be of a team leader in an organization who listens to his team mates about the issues they are facing while delivering a project and working with them hand in hand to solve such issues. These kind of activities motivates the team mates and make them more productive.

While observation and listening seems to be a source of receiving energy, touch is a way of spreading positive energy to the people around us . A small activity today in class made me understand that just by a simple touch we can make a person understand our feelings for him .While a positive sense of touch may actually strengthen the bond and make a lonely person feel that there is someone who is with him to help in the times of your crisis, a negative sense of touch may de-motivate a person. Organizations can actually just by appreciating their employees can motivate them, hence making them more productive. A tap at the back by a manager will definitely make a new joinee more enthusiastic at workplace. Thus spreading a more positive environment at workplace.

So to conclude, a human being or an organization needs to have a goal - a goal for a better cause of serving people. He should be ethically sound , compassionate and diversified to gain wisdom and have a mindful of idea. And these ideas he can use for betterment of the society and for doing that he has to follow certain habits and values and listen, observe and feel things happening around him.
