Shikha Bhatia_BLP59_SelfLeadership_May2012

My first day in SOIL (I know I missed the fun and frolic week) and as it’s about to end I get a chance to share my thoughts here. What a start- I got to meet the man himself-Anil Sachdev who needs no introduction. The session started at 9 a.m. though I got late because of registration process. I had read so much about him but it was more than that. He is a man full of compassion and inspiration.
He started the class with a question-“What is the one question that I would ask myself if I want to become a self leader?” Everybody came up with so many interesting answers and I asked myself “what is the sole purpose of my life?” I am still trying to figure out an answer for myself.
Later in the day we learnt about relationship between body, mind and soul. We learnt about six layers of self:
1)      Body               2) Instinct           3)Mind
4) Brain          5) Ego                   6) Mindfulness
If these are aligned in proper manner they can bring charisma in our life. My body ,my instinct, my mind ,my brain and my ego all are object and they belong to a single subject that is “my soul”  ,my life giving force.
After that we were given exercise to understand three key points that are important for a person to become a good leader: Observation, Listening and Touch. While doing this exercise I realized that 90% of communication happens through eyes, how important the art of listening is in day to day life and how well a person can communicate through touch.
The session was full of learning and it helped me to connect to myself. I was left asking questions to myself to know better my inner conscience because to become a good leader it is really important to lead yourself first.
