Today we had our first academic session on Self Leadership. This session was all about how to be a better self leader in order to lead others better.
I must admit that I was completely amazed by the amount and qulity of work that Anil Sir has done in his life, its really amazing!!
He started the class by saying that he lives in present, and his past does not defines him anymore, and he now wants to be the change that he wants to see in the country.
The learnings that I had from the session was, to be a self leader you have to lead your lifestyle in a better way.
He asked this question to the class "What is the one thing that you would ask yourself to become a better leader"
The answer that our group came up with varied from understanding ones purpose of life to how one can be happy.
I remembered a personal story of mine which I would like to share here.
For me my purpose of life is to find happiness, which I find whenever I make my parents happy.
When I was in 7th standard in school I failed in Mathematics in the mid term exams and my parents were called by the principal.
My mom cried in front of my principal. Later my principal called me and narrated me the incident and told me one statement which changed me completely.
He said "its still ok to hurt your father, but if you are making your mother cry you are not a good son", this changed me completely.
In the final term I scored a full marks in mathematics and later I was giving coaching to my class mates who were weak in Maths.
The next part of my learning was on the six layers of the self and how it should be aligned to be a good and inspired leader.
Today we also learnt how to communicate just by observation, seeing, listening and by the power of touch. These means of communication are often more strong than verbal commuication.
An simple exercise of hugging in the class made me realise what power the communication with touch holds. We can relate instantly with a feeling of joy, oneness and care.
On an ending note I must say that the session on the self leadership not only will benefit us but it will benefit others also if we can practice it in our life.
